Professor Richard B. Kim, Departments of Medicine, Oncology, and Physiology and Pharmacology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads internationally recognized research in pharmacogenomics, personalized medicine, drug transporters, drug metabolism, and medication toxicity. His work explains why people can respond so differently to the same drug dose, including how genetic variation and transport pathways affect efficacy, brain access, and unexpected adverse effects. His research mission is to optimize drug therapy through genetics-informed precision care. Previously recruited from Vanderbilt University, he serves as Wolfe Medical Research Chair in Pharmacogenomics and directs a major personalized medicine program at Western University.
