Associate Professor Jeffrey J. L. Carson, Department of Medical Biophysics with appointment in Surgery, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research in photoacoustic imaging, optical imaging, plasmonic nanostructures, breast cancer detection, and biomedical imaging applications. His group develops optical devices and camera systems that support disease diagnosis, with particular emphasis on photoacoustic tomography as a method to detect breast cancer. His research mission is to translate imaging physics into clinically useful tools that improve diagnosis. He also offers MSc and PhD research opportunities, reflecting an active role in graduate supervision and imaging research training at Western University.
