Professor Nathalie Bérubé is the Deputy Chair of Paediatrics (Research) and a faculty member in the Departments of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Paediatrics, and Oncology at Western University. She is also a Senior Scientist in the Genetics & Development division at the Children’s Health Research Institute and a member of the Western Neuroscience Institute. An internationally recognized expert in epigenetic regulation of the nervous system, Dr. Bérubé’s research examines how chromatin remodeling and transcriptional mechanisms shape neurodevelopment and how their disruption leads to neurological disorders, including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, and brain cancer. Her laboratory combines molecular genetics, epigenomics, and mouse models to uncover disease mechanisms and identify potential therapeutic approaches.

She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa and completed postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine and the Ottawa Health Research Institute. She has published extensively in leading journals, contributed to numerous collaborative research initiatives, and served on national and international review panels. A dedicated educator and mentor, Professor Bérubé is a member of the Anatomy and Cell Biology and Neuroscience graduate programs and has supervised more than 40 graduate trainees and postdoctoral fellows, many of whom have gone on to successful academic and research careers. Her leadership in research and training continues to advance understanding of neural development and its disorders while fostering the next generation of scientist-leaders in biomedical research.
