BIO
Professor Hong Ling, Department of Biochemistry, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on DNA damage, translesion DNA synthesis, mutagenesis, X-ray crystallography, and cancer drug resistance. Her laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms by which cells respond to endogenous and environmental DNA-damaging agents and uses structural biology, molecular biology, cell biology, protein chemistry, and biophysical methods to explain how lesion bypass and mutation arise. Her mission is to uncover how DNA damage responses shape carcinogenesis and treatment resistance. She also teaches undergraduate and graduate biochemistry courses and supervises research training at Western University.
