BIO
Associate Professor Denis P. Maxwell, Department of Biology, Western University, studies mitochondria, stress-sensing, acclimation and adaptation, alternative oxidase, and Chlamydomonas. His lab uses a multidisciplinary approach to understand mitochondrial responses across a nested series of cellular stress processes, with particular focus on the regulation and function of alternative oxidase genes. His research mission is to explain how eukaryotic cells sense stress and reorganize metabolism to survive changing conditions. He also supervises graduate researchers and serves as Associate Chair for Undergraduate Education in Biology.
