Professor John McCormick, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on superantigens, Staphylococcus aureus, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, and anti-cancer immunotherapeutics. His laboratory studies how dangerous bacterial toxins and resistant pathogens drive disease and also engineers superantigens for targeted anti-cancer immunotherapeutics. His research mission is to turn deep mechanistic microbiology into better tools against both infection and cancer. He also trains researchers in a department that emphasizes human disease, infection, and immunity.
