BIO

Margaret Jane Kidnie (M.J.), Professor of English at Western University, is the Graham and Gail Wright Distinguished Scholar. She has published widely on Shakespearean performance, adaptation, and textual studies, and is an award-winning teacher. Kidnie earned a Ph.D. at The Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham and has taught the subject of Shakespeare since 1996 in England and in Canada. While in England, Kidnie also worked as an academic consultant at the Royal National Theatre and gave public lectures at the Bankside Globe. Since returning to Canada in 2002, she has served as Visiting Scholar to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, and currently serves on their ad-hoc University Task Force. She regularly writes programme notes and gives public lectures as part of the Festival’s education programme.

Dr. Kidnie is currently editing Hamlet for the Arden series and is co-General Editor of the new Cambridge Shakespeare Editions series.
