Professor James Lacefield is a biomedical engineer jointly appointed to the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Medical Biophysics at Western University.  He is the inaugaral Director of Western's School of Biomedical Engineering and a co-founder of Western's Frugal Biomedical Innovations program, which develops medical technologies to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers in low-resource settings in collaboration with partners in Africa and Northern Canada.  He is also the Director of the NSERC Collaborative Research and Training Experience program in Engineering Health Equity at Western, which trains undergraduate and graduate students performing global health technologies research under the umbrella of the Frugal Biomedical Innovations program.  His laboratory is housed in Western's Robarts Research Institute.

 

Dr. Lacefield is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the Acoustical Society of America.
