Currently the FIMS Undergraduate Chair and a CTS Scholar, my goal is to ensure that our pedagogy prepares our students for a media landscape that is rapidly evolving.

My scholarship covers a diverse range of interests, centering on an interdisciplinary approach to visual culture, focusing on the ways in which alternative representational modes, such as text and sound, complicate and compete with our understanding of the visual, particularly in a promotional context. My publications examine these issues from television and film to literature and comics, most recently appearing in the pages of Creaturely Fear on Film (Palgrave, 2025), The Weird: A Companion (Peter Lang,  2025) and Capture Japan (Bloomsbury, 2022), with forthcoming publications for Oxford University Press, Edinburgh University Press, and Routledge.

I have also shared my expertise on children's media and the marketplace with numerous media outlets, having appeared in print and radio, and on the NPR podcast Generation Barney (2024), the CBC miniseries Stay Tooned (2022), and TVO's The Agenda (2022).
