Assistant Professor Alyssa Erin MacLean, Department of English and Writing Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Western University, researches the literary relationship between Canada and the United States, pre-Civil War literature, digital humanities, and the historical and literary study of Black life in nineteenth-century London, Ontario. Her current project is to recover cross-border literary histories and local Black histories through archival, literary, and digital methods. MacLean co-created the open-access Black Londoners Project, and her scholarship strengthens connections among literary study, regional history, and public-facing research at Western University.
