Prof. Alan MacEachern is a teacher, researcher, & writer of stuff Canadian, historical, & environmental. 

Alan has long been a national & international leader in the field of environmental history. He was the founding director of NiCHE: Network of Canadian History & Environment & is the editor of the Canadian History & Environment series at University of Calgary Press. He has co-written & co-edited textbooks on environmental history methodologies, on Canadian history, & on digital history. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

This decade, Alan has published 3 books with McGill-Queen's University Press: The Miramichi Fire: A History (2020), The Summer Trade: A History of Tourism on PEI (with Edward MacDonald, 2022), & Becoming Green Gables (with the companion website GreenGablesDiary.ca, 2024). He is currently working with Western History PhD student Mary Baxter on a history of the Meteorological Service of Canada, 1871-1936.
