RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research program examines how curriculum operates as a relational and institutional practice across educational and professional learning contexts, with particular attention to multiliteracies, professional identity formation, and interdisciplinary approaches to curriculum scholarship.
An enduring question that I bring to various professional inquiries is, "How do our abilities to ‘read’ texts and to use and understand multimedia/other technologies shape our ability to communicate & learn?"
Recent research interests have focused on:
- Writing, Artificial Intelligence and Accessibility
- Teacher Education (Assessment, Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion)
- Curriculum assessment, pedagogies and learning by design (focus on Multiliteracies);
- Health professions' education; Multiliteracies in the professions;
- Governance in Professional Programs
- Understanding diversity through interdisciplinary education;
- Scholarship of teaching and learning with multiple ‘texts’ including mobile and digital;
- Qualitative research methodologies (e.g., critical narrative inquiry, socio-material approaches and visual methodologies)
My research program has developed through three interconnected phases that collectively advance scholarship in curriculum studies and professional education. My early work examined multiliteracies and curriculum innovation, contributing to understanding how evolving forms of literacy and digital communication reshape teaching and learning. This work led to a broader research program examining curriculum as a social practice, demonstrating how curriculum is constructed through institutional structures, professional judgment, and sociocultural contexts.
Building on this foundation, my more recent work has extended curriculum scholarship into interdisciplinary professional education, particularly at the intersection of education and health professions education. Through interdisciplinary research collaborations, institutional leadership, and the establishment of research communities, my work has contributed to strengthening connections between curriculum theory, professional learning, and institutional change.
Across these phases, my scholarship has consistently emphasized the relational and institutional dimensions of curriculum, while supporting the development of emerging scholars and interdisciplinary research communities engaged in advancing curriculum studies internationally.
