Professor Mark Goldszmidt is a clinician scientist at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in London, Ontario, Canada. Clinically, he earned his MD at McGill University, completed his internal medicine residency at Queen’s University, and his general internal medicine fellowship at the University of Western Ontario. He holds a Master’s of Health Professions Education degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a PhD from the University of Maastricht.
From the start of his academic career, he has always combined active internal medicine clinical practice with leadership, teaching, and research. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Education Research & Innovation (CERI) at Western University. As a research scientist, he is most interested in practice variability and the intersection between clinical practice and clinical learning, using both qualitative research and quality improvement methods to understand and then enhance clinical care and clinical learning. Professor Goldszmidt has received numerous awards in recognition of his leadership, including the prestigious 3M National Teaching Fellowship from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education of Canada.
