BIO
Associate Professor Alexander Timoshenko, Department of Biology and Department of Oncology, Western University, leads research in glycobiology, galectins, cellular stress responses, cancer biology, and redox-regulation of cellular functions. His work studies lectins and galectins in cell signaling, stemness, differentiation, innate immunity, and lymphangiogenic factors, with current emphasis on tissue-specific galectins and O-GlcNAc-dependent regulation of cellular differentiation. His research mission is to define how glycan-binding proteins and stress pathways shape cell behaviour in cancer and related disease biology. He teaches molecular cell biology of stress and invites prospective students interested in cell and molecular biology of galectins.
