Professor James A. Flath, Department of History, Faculty of Social Science, Western University, researches China, history, material culture, memory, and folk art. His research focus is modern and rural North China, especially the relationship among visual culture, monuments, religion, and historical memory. He teaches and supervises in Chinese history at Western University, and his work includes research on the Temple of Confucius, nianhua, and the public history of monuments and museums in China.
