Professor Franco Berruti serves within the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. His research focuses on thermochemical biomass conversion, fast pyrolysis, and fluidized bed reactors to develop sustainable energy solutions. He investigates the transformation of organic waste into high-value bio-oils and biochar to support the circular economy. A former Dean of Engineering, he co-founded the Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources and holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Waterloo. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and is available for graduate student supervision.
