BIO
Dr. Urquhart earned his BSc and PhD, in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. He then completed his Post-Doctoral studies at the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. In 2009, he joined the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, as an Assistant Professor. He was appointed as an Associate Professor in 2015 and Full Professor in 2023. Dr. Urquhart was appointed as Associate Dean, Basic Medical Science Undergraduate Education in 2019 and is currently in his second term in that role which oversees Western's BMSc, Neuroscience and Public Health undergrdauate programs.
Dr. Urquhart is the recipient of several awards including Faculty Scholar award; Dean’s Award of Excellence for Junior Faculty; the Marilyn Robinson Award for Teaching Excellence; the K.M. Piafsky Presentation Award, Canadian Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics; Merck-Frost Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship, Canadian Society of Clinical Pharmacology; and the Margaret P. Moffat Award at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
