Professor Susan Meakin, Department of Biochemistry, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on intracellular signalling pathways, Trk receptor tyrosine kinases, nervous system development, neuronal survival, and neurodegenerative disease. Her laboratory examines how Trk family receptors function in normal neuronal biology and how disrupted signalling contributes to pathology, including Alzheimer disease and cancer-related mechanisms. Her research mission is to explain how receptor signalling shapes cell fate in health and disease and to identify pathways with translational potential. She also supervises trainees in Western University’s biochemistry research environment.
