BIO

Professor David Heinrichs is a member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University. His research centers on the molecular pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus and the mechanisms of bacterial iron acquisition. He investigates the role of nutrient transport systems in bacterial virulence and survival within the host environment. His mission is to identify novel targets for antimicrobial therapy by unraveling the biochemical pathways of infection. Dr. Heinrichs provides extensive supervision for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. He is a recognized expert in molecular microbiology and holds a Doctor of Philosophy, focusing on the battle for nutrients at the host-pathogen interface.
