Professor Lynn Shaw contributes to ongoing research and partnerships to address work disparities, work disruptions and addressing systemic issues needed to create opportunities for Decent Work, social inclusion, the promotion of occupational participation, and workplace health and well-being. One of the ways she has addressed inequities and barriers to work is through engaging with and building research capacity of community members and organizations and mentoring persons with disabilities in pursuing research. She is currently the column editor for the Journal WORK on Equitable Work Transitions and Mobility: Advancing Decent Work for All.

She is part of research grants with international & national collaborations across universities. Using occupational science, futures, critical lenses and collective ways of knowing she collaboratively study’s occupational transitions, work place transformation, work disparities experienced by many groups including persons with disabilities, injured workers, and people with chronic pain, return to work, work mobility, assessment of work demands and environments, ergonomics and universal design. Other key areas are in health transformation through Interprofessional academic collaborative approaches and workplace innovations, along with systematic reviews in occupational therapy, chronic pain, assistive technologies and chiropractic. Areas of new focus in work include technological disruptions and the impact on future work.
