Professor James Johnson conducts research in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Western University. His scholarly work focuses on bioengineering, orthopedic implants, and upper extremity biomechanics, particularly the design of joint replacement technologies. He investigates the mechanical behavior of bone-implant interfaces to improve the longevity of surgical interventions. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from Western University, he is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He supervises a large interdisciplinary group in the Bone and Joint Institute and is currently available to mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in surgical engineering.
