BIO
Emeritus Professor Sheila M. Macfie, Department of Biology, Western University, lead research on metal tolerance in plants, eco-physiological perspectives, plant biochemistry, environmental physiology, and biomaterials for agriculture and greenhouse industries. Her work investigates how plants respond to metals such as cadmium and zinc, linking physiological stress responses with environmental and agricultural relevance. Her research mission is to explain how plants cope with metal stress and to translate that knowledge into safer and more resilient biological systems. She also supervises student researchers and has received Western University teaching recognition, including the Marilyn Robinson Award for Excellence in Teaching.
