BIO

Carolyn McLeod is Distinguished University Professor of Philosophy at Western University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Author of Self-Trust and Reproductive Autonomy (MIT) and Conscience in Reproductive Health Care (Oxford), she is an expert on ethical issues in reproductive health care. She has also done extensive research on the ethics of adoption and on key concepts in moral philosophy including trust, autonomy, integrity, and conscience. Mainly through her participation in multi-disciplinary and multi-organizational research teams, McLeod has contributed directly to the creation of public policies affecting prospective parents in Canada. She brings a feminist lens to all her academic work, having been trained by world-renowned feminist ethicists, Susan Sherwin (Dalhousie U) and Christine Overall (Queen's U).
