BIO
Rochelle Mazar comes to Western from the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she was Assistant Director of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre since 2021. She also served as Acting Head of the X̱wi7x̱wa Library, UBC’s Indigenous branch, from 2022 to 2023. Prior to UBC, Rochelle was the Assistant Dean for Academic Engagement and Coordinator of the Digital Academy at the University of Rochester’s River Campus Libraries (2015-20). Her career also includes two successive librarian roles at the University of Toronto Mississauga (2005-14). She is an active member of the Ontario Library Association and has contributed significantly to its Library as Place conference. Rochelle received her MLIS from Western, a Master of Theological Studies degree from Harvard University, and a BA from Carleton University. She holds a Confirmed Appointment as a Librarian at UBC. Rochelle is the ACL responsible for the User Experience and User Services teams, including the professional libraries. She will have the rank of Associate Librarian and began a four-year term on June 1, 2026.
