BIO
Dr. Netta Avnoon is a sociologist of professions and expertise. She is interested in the emergence of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as fields of expertise and their integration into expert labor alongside gendered aspects of expertise. Her recent projects include the implementation of AI in Stroke Management, the meaning of opacity in expert labor, and Women in Data Science and AI. Her articles have been published in Big Data and Society, New Media and Society, Work, Employment and Society, Nature Reviews Urology, and more. She is also the winner of the 2024-2026 Faculty of Social Sciences postdoctoral award of the University of Western Ontario, Canada; a contributing author to the winning submission of the 2023-2028 Israel Science Foundation grant cycle in Sociology and the 2022-2023 Clalit Health Services Innovation Center grant; the winner of the 2021-2022 Shapiro Foundation postdoctoral award, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Rector’s Travel Grant for outstanding postdoctoral fellows, Tel Aviv University.
