Chasmer's research uses field methods and remote sensing to better understand environmental interactions associated with vegetation change and disturbances, such as wildland fire in boreal and mountain environments. Chasmer uses advanced geospatial and computational methods, and validates these through extensive field data collection activities. 

Chasmer is publicly linked through Western sources to research on wildfire management, remote sensing, LiDAR, deep learning, and vegetation fuel modelling.
