Assistant Professor Mehdi Qiabi, Departments of Surgery and Oncology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, focuses his academic work on thoracic surgery, esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, thoracic simulation, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical education. At Western University he leads as Director of Thoracic Simulation, and nationally as Education Chair of the Canadian Association of Thoracic Surgeons. His research mission is to improve thoracic cancer care through innovative procedures, stronger training, and research-informed surgery. He also advances public awareness of reflux-related upper gastrointestinal cancer risk.
