BIO

Dr. Satoru (Ray) Fujii obtained his MD at Kanazawa University School of Medicine and obtained his Ph.D at Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. He obtained a certificate from the Japanese Board of Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (JBPOT) and passed the National Board of Echocardiography Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography exam in 2012. His clinical training includes more than 2 years of transthoracic echocardiography in an echo lab at Kanazawa University.

After his initial training, he obtained a specialist certificate from the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists, and subsequently, obtained a sub-specialist certificate from the Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists. He was involved in animal experiments at Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medical Sciences for 4 years before starting his career as a clinical researcher at LHSC as a clinical fellow. Fortunately, he came across wonderful mentors who gave him plenty of research opportunities.

During his 2-year cardiac fellowship, he published case reports, a review paper, original research and a book chapter and he was recruited to be a reviewer for Minerva Anestesiologica in 2017. He also enrolled in a Masters of Science in Surgery program during his second year as a fellow. He will continue to seek his career as a clinical researcher as a faculty member and engage in education for fellows and residents.
