M. Hesham El Naggar, Ph.D., P.Eng., F.CAE, F. EIC, F. ASCE is a Distinguished University Professor of geotechnical Engineering at Western University, Canada. He is Editor-in-Chief of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering and former Associate Editor of the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. Prof. El Naggar has won the PEO Medal for Research and Developed, 2015, 2007 A.G. Stermac Award, the 2002 G.G. Meyerhof Award and the 2002 Canadian Geotechnical Colloquium Speaker. He has 30 years of experience in analysis and design of foundations and soil-structure interaction; and has published more than 270 technical papers in this field. He is the recipient of the Western Distinguished University Professorship and Faculty Scholar Award and Western Award for Excellence in Research and the Western Engineering Prize for Outstanding Teaching. He consulted on major projects worldwide. He has given about 150 short courses on “design of machine foundations” and “Foundation Design” that are very well received by practitioners.
