Assistant Professor Marat Slessarev conducts research in the Department of Medicine at Western University. His scholarly work emphasizes critical care, neurophysiology, and organ donation, focusing on the preservation of brain and organ function in the setting of severe injury. He investigates the ethical and physiological challenges of end-of-life care and the recovery of consciousness following cardiac arrest. Holding a Medical Degree and a Master of Science, he is a member of the Western Institute for Neuroscience. He supervises graduate students in the field of clinical research and is currently available for academic mentorship and doctoral student supervision regarding intensive care and neurovascular health.
