Dr. Soume Bhattacharya is a Neonatologist and Assistant Professor at Western University, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Bhattacharya did a 3 year Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Western University followed by a 1 year Fellowship in Neonatal/Cardiology, Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography, and Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She has also completed her Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University.
Dr. Bhattacharya’s research interest revolves around neonatal hemodynamics and cardiovascular physiology, application of novel echocardiographic techniques in neonates, pulmonary hypertension and preterm brain injury.
Dr. Bhattacharya is the Director of the Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography Program at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at London. She is implementing the new technology of Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography in the NICU in order to optimize clinical care of hemodynamically unstable neonates. Her vision is to use this new technology to improve standards of neonatal care, enhance education in neonatal perinatal medicine and facilitate ground breaking research in neonatal hemodynamics.
