BIO

Dr. Garland is originally from Ottawa.  She obtained her undergraduate degree in Physiology from McGill University before attending the University of Ottawa for medical school.  Dr. Garland completed Plastic Surgery residency training at Western University and during this time she also completed a Master's of Surgery.  Her master's degree focussed on differences in facial growth and aesthetics in patients with cleft lip/palate.  After residency training Dr. Garland completed a fellowship in Pediatric Plastic Surgery at BC Children's Hospital.  Following her fellowship, she took a locum position at BC Children's Hospital before coming back to join the faculty at Western.  Dr. Garland is the Clinical Director of the Cleft Lip/Palate program at the Thames Valley Children's Centre.  Dr. Garland's clinical and research interests include cleft lip/palate surgery, pediatric burn management and brachial plexus injuries.  She also has a strong interest in surgical education.
