BIO
Professor Christopher J. J. Brandl is a member of the Department of Biochemistry at Western University. His research centers on tRNA biology, investigating the mechanisms regulating gene expression and the evolution of the genetic code. He specifically examines mistranslation as an adaptive response to cellular stress and its contributions to disease. His mission is to identify tRNA variants for synthetic biology applications and determine how cells cope with proteome inaccuracy. Dr. Brandl is actively involved in graduate and postdoctoral supervision, fostering expertise in molecular biology. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy and previously served in various core facility leadership roles.
