Associate Professor Walter J. Rushlow, Department of Psychiatry with cross-appointment in Anatomy and Cell Biology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, conducts research on schizophrenia, antipsychotics, signal transduction, molecular mechanisms, and behavioural testing. His work examines the signalling pathways and proteins that underlie the symptoms of schizophrenia and the mechanisms by which antipsychotic treatments relieve them. His mission is to identify novel therapeutic targets that support better pharmaceuticals for severe mental illness. He also contributes to undergraduate education and departmental leadership at Western University.
