BIO

Assistant Professor Irene Yang is a researcher in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Western University. Her primary investigative work centers on orthopedic engineering, medical device design, and musculoskeletal care, with a focus on improving fracture treatment. She seeks to develop novel fixation techniques and surgical tools to enhance bone healing in diverse clinical settings. Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford, she is cross-appointed to the Department of Surgery. She supervises interdisciplinary projects in the Bone and Joint Institute and is currently available for graduate student mentorship in translational orthopaedic research.
