Assistant Professor Fernando Sumiya conducts research in the Department of Psychiatry at Western University. His scholarly work emphasizes clinical psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and mental health, focusing on the biological treatments for severe mood and anxiety disorders. He investigates the effectiveness and safety of medication management in complex psychiatric cases and the impact on patient quality of life. Having earned his Medical Degree and completed specialized residency training, he is a member of the Western Institute for Neuroscience. He teaches medical residents and is currently available for academic mentorship and doctoral student supervision in the field of clinical psychiatric research.
