BIO
My career, as an academic and the petroleum industry, has largely focused on the integration of geologic, geophysical, geochemical and engineering datasets to study fundamental and applied stratigraphic, structural geology problems (shale reservoirs, clastic stratigraphy, hydrothermal dolomites, naturally fractured reservoirs, seismic attribute analyses, etc.). For that work, I was selected as the AAPG/SEG Distinguished Lecturer for both 2009/2010 and 2017/2018. I also was a Guest Lecturer for the CSPG in 2006. I have authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed papers (partial listing below) since 1989. My short courses on seismic interpretation have been offered through AAPG, SEPM, CSPG, Nautilus and other sponsors since 1995 in places such as Houston, London, Copenhagen, Vienna, Cairo, Calgary, and Kuala Lumpur.
My goal is to continue to have fun ("If you love what you're doing, it's never work..."), integrating diverse datasets to address real problems, and sharing my knowledge and passion for the science in a variety of formal and informal settings.
