BIO

Dr. Fang Fang received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, in 2017. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science, Western University, Canada.

Prior to joining Western University, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at Durham University, UK, from 2020 to 2022. In addition, she was a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK from 2018 to 2020.

Her current research interests include machine learning for intelligent wireless communications, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), multi-access edge computing (MEC), Semantic Communications, Edge AI and Distributed Learning, etc. Dr. Fang has been serving as a general chair for EAI GameNets 2022, a publications chair for IEEE VTC 2023 Fall, and a symposium chair for IEEE Globecom 2023, IEEE VTC 2024 Spring and IEEE ICC 2025. Dr. Fang currently serves as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Communication Letters and IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society (OJ-COM). She received the Exemplary Reviewer Certificates from the IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2017 and 2021, as well as the Exemplary Editor Certificates from IEEE OJ-COM in 2021 and 2023. Dr. Fang won the IEEE SPCC Early Achievement Award in 2023.
