BIO

 

Dr. Bushra Elhusein is a Staff Psychiatrist at London Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, with subspecialty expertise in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. His clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of complex psychiatric presentations at the interface of medicine and mental health, including neuropsychiatric conditions, substance use disorders, and treatment-resistant mood disorders.

 

Dr. Elhusein’s academic work spans psychopharmacology, psychiatric education, and digital mental health. He has contributed to the growing literature on mobile health technologies in psychiatry and is actively engaged in clinical research, including work on cognitive outcomes in antidepressant treatment and novel approaches to managing medication-induced movement disorders. His scholarly work also extends to global mental health, with a particular focus on mental health in conflict-affected settings.

 

He is deeply committed to medical education across all levels of training and has received multiple awards recognizing excellence in clinical teaching and learner engagement. In addition to his teaching roles, Dr. Elhusein serves as the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID) Lead for the Department of Psychiatry, where he contributes to initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive and equitable clinical and academic environments.
