Nadia Lambek joined the Faculty of Law in 2021 as an Assistant Professor. Her research explores law’s constitutive role in shaping our food systems, the engagement of social movements in law making, law's relation to the rural, and property law. She is also interested in critical theory, law and anthropology, and the law of work.

Professor Lambek is actively engaged in developing the field of food law and policy in Canada and is a founding member and current Board President of the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy. She regularly collaborates with civil society organizations on issues of food system governance, including working with the Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism to the UN Committee on World Food Security.  She is a Faculty Member at the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School, a co-leader of the International Law and Politics CRN for the Law and Society Association, and a co-editor of the Elements in International Law Series with Cambridge University Press.

Prior to her appointment at Western Law, Professor Lambek was a fellow at the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School and at the Jackman Humanities Institute at the University of Toronto. She previously practiced law focusing on the promotion and protection of workers’ rights, union-side labour law, and human rights. She also served as an advisor to two United Nations Special Rapporteurs on the right to food, an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School and a clerk at the Ontario Court of Appeal. She has a BA from Brown University, a JD from Yale Law School and an SJD from the University of Toronto, where she was a SSHRC Canada Graduate Doctoral Scholar to Honour Nelson Mandela and a John Peters Humphrey Fellow
