Dr. Fatimah AlMutawa, MBBS, FRCPC, joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in October 2020 as a Medical Microbiologist. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery degree from King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia. She completed her residency training in Medical Microbiology at McMaster University in 2017.  She further completed a clinical fellowship in Infection Prevention and Control at McMaster University. Dr. AlMutawa’s clinical interests include molecular diagnostics and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. 

Earlier in 2025, Dr. AlMutawa earned a Master of Education in Health Professions Education from the University of Ottawa, along with a Certificate in Universal Design for Learning from Western University. These accomplishments demonstrate her dedication to enhancing inclusive and effective teaching practices, strengthening education within PaLM and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate training across Western.
