BIO
Associate Professor Joanna Redden serves within the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University. Her research program integrates data justice, algorithmic accountability, and digital governance to examine how automated systems impact social equity. She focuses on the democratic implications of government data use and the development of frameworks to mitigate algorithmic harms. Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Goldsmiths, University of London, she is a member of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy and co-founder of the Data Justice Lab. She supervises graduate researchers in media studies and is currently available for academic mentorship.
