Assistant Professor Alishya Burrell, Department of Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads scholarship on development and integration of geriatric competencies in undergraduate medical education, geriatric content and competencies in clinical documentation, ageism in the hidden curriculum, geriatric medicine, and health professions education. Her work studies how aging-related competencies are taught, documented, and experienced across the medical curriculum. Her research mission is to strengthen care for older adults by improving how future physicians learn geriatrics. She also chairs foundational undergraduate teaching and contributes nationally to geriatrics education leadership.
