Assistant Professor Dervla Connaughton, Departments of Biochemistry and Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on renal genetics, chronic kidney disease, rare inherited kidney diseases, genomics, and kidney epidemiology. A clinician-researcher and nephrologist, she studies the genetic basis of kidney disease in adult and pediatric populations and applies genomic analysis to improve diagnosis and family risk assessment. Her research mission is to bring precision kidney medicine into routine care for patients with inherited and unexplained renal disease. She also leads renal genetics services in Southwestern Ontario and holds the Eugen Drewlo Chair in Kidney Research and Innovation.
