BIO

Assistant Professor Taylor Schmitz serves in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Western University. His research program integrates neuroimaging, cholinergic systems, and Alzheimer’s disease to identify early biomarkers of neurodegeneration. He specifically focuses on how the basal forebrain influences attentional networks and cognitive stability in aging populations. Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Toronto, he is a member of the Western Institute for Neuroscience and a scientist at the Robarts Research Institute. He supervises graduate researchers in the field of cognitive neuroscience and is currently available for doctoral student mentorship and collaborative inquiries.
