Assistant Professor Ana Cabrera holds a joint appointment in Microbiology and Immunology and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University. Her research centers on molecular microbiology and the development of novel assays for the diagnosis of infectious diseases. She investigates clinical microbiology technologies to enhance rapid diagnostic capabilities within laboratory settings. Her mission is to lead innovation in assay development and support the routine operations of molecular laboratories. Dr. Cabrera serves as a research supervisor for both undergraduate and graduate students. She acts as the Division Head of the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory, focusing on infectious disease management and lab excellence.
