Dr. Whitehead is the Director of the Western Institutes for Neuroscience (WIN) and a Professor in the Dept. Anatomy and Cell Biology at Western University. Dr. Whitehead is a neuroscientist with expertise in multi-modal imaging, including molecular imaging, preclinical animal model development and phenotyping, and biomarker development. Since his appointment to Western in 2013, Dr. Whitehead has published 90 peer reviewed articles in leading journals such as Stroke, Nature Neuroscience, Lancet Neurology, JAMA Neurology and Alzheimer’s and Dementia. His research program has attracted funding from NSERC, CIHR, Weston Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, and other international agencies. Dr. Whitehead currently serves as a Western University Senator and is the Vice President of the Albert Charitable Trust and is a co-founder of the Albert Institute for White Matter and Cognition.
