BIO
Dr. Laila Schenkel joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as a Molecular Geneticist in the Division of Molecular Diagnostics. Dr. Schenkel received her PhD in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in PaLM with Dr. Bekim Sadikovic from 2015 to 2016. She is clinically trained as a Molecular Laboratory Geneticist by the Canadian College of Medical Genetics (CCMG) and is an experienced scientist in the field of molecular diagnosis, human genetics and biochemistry. Her research interests include the development and implementation of novel technologies to clinical molecular diagnostics and identification of novel disease biomarkers using epigenomic and genomic profiling.
