Verspeeten Chair in Translational Oncology, Associate Professor, Departments of Medicine, Oncology, and Physiology and Pharmacology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on cancer stem cells, tissue repair, regeneration in colitis, colorectal malignancy, and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. His lab uses transgenic mouse models and in vitro mini-guts to define pathways that drive intestinal repair and inflammation-associated cancer. His research mission is to uncover how damaged gastrointestinal tissue heals, regenerates, or turns malignant, so treatment can become more precise. He is also a Schulich Clinician-Scientist in gastroenterology and mentors trainees in translational digestive disease research.
