Overarchingly, the goal of Professor Jackson's research is to conduct high-quality research aimed to improving health outcomes for women, their children, and their families, which may be generalized to populations both nationally and internationally. Using a pragmatic world view, chosen methods and methodology are fitting with the best approaches to answer the research question. This is facilitated by a range of rigorous quantitative approaches such as randomized controlled trials and/or meta-analyses and systematic reviews through to qualitative exploration of important concepts in women’s health. Although this research broadly covers issues pertaining to women’s health, the two main foci includes: 1) antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care (e.g., breastfeeding and perinatal pain and mental health); and intimate partner violence/ gender based violence. Intersectionality and feminism underpin this work.
